Situated just next to the Champs-Elysées, the French Language Institute (ILF) benefits to more than 20 years of expertise in teaching French as a Foreign Language. We are fully conscious that the way of teaching is essential in learning a Foreign Language. At the French Language Institute (ILF), rather than working separately, teachers are collaborating to coordinate their teaching, to innovate and exchange original and stimulating media. Our educational office reflects in consequence our teaching developments, and we design programs, educational materials and assessment tests adapted to each level.
The Key Points of our Method
- Courses adapted to the needs and expectation of each student
- Clearly defined learning objectives
- Efficient orientation and a permanent follow-up of the realized progress
Whether dealing with oral or written language, a total immersion in the French Language is our priority.

Development of The Communication Skills
The communication skill is reinforced by numerous class activities focusing at each step on the improvement of grammar, vocabulary, and phonetic (pronunciation and intonation) through role-plays, studies of authentic documents from the press or from theFrench radio for example.
Our Method and the European Framework
Followingthe CECRL (European Framework of Common Reference for Languages published in2001) and based on the result of years of linguistic research conducted byexperts, members of the European Council, our programs include 6 levels (from level A1: beginner tolevel C1: Autonomous) as described below :
- Elementary User (Level A1 and A2): you can communicate in the simpletasks requiring just a simple and direct exchange of information about familiar and usual topics.
- Independant User (Level B1 and B2): you can act effectively in most communicative situations that you are experiencing. The level B2 is generally compulsory for foreign students wishing to enroll in French Universities.
- Experienced User (Level C1 and C2): your intimate knowledge of the language allows you to understand any nuances, even in complex situations. The level C1 can be required in some universities.
